Curriculum Overview

The Egyptians - Copyright 2005-2010

The following is a basic overview of the curriculum content typically offered in a traditional Waldorf school setting. The actual content and presentation will vary, depending on the pulse of the specific classroom, as well as the community.

For those interested in learning more about Waldorf education, this overview will give you a good sense of what the curriculum might look like. For those working with Waldorf out of a home-based setting, this may also serve as a framework out of which you may develop your own curriculum with your children, whether you choose to reference a specific 'grade' or whether you are merely working with a certain age range.

Please note that Gr. 1 in a Waldorf school would typically begin at age 7. Before this time (from birth to age 7), Steiner emphasized that the focus for a child is to be on play, not academics.
