Who We Are

Waldorf Family Network (WFN) is a grassroots community service project serving homeschooling families inspired by Waldorf Education. Founded by Our Family in 2003, WFN is a service arm of Michaelmas Farm, an educational homestead and initiative for social renewal.

What We Do

Primarily a web-based endeavor, WFN acts as a wellspring of educational, networking, and community-building support for the Waldorf-inspired homeschooling community at large. In the spirit of 'think globally, act locally', we also serve as a beacon of practical support for networking and community-building among those residing in the New England area by offering select services that help to facilitate personal connection and foster a greater sense of community among those in our own backyard.

We accomplish our mission by:

promoting opportunities for self-study and reflection related to Waldorf Education, Waldorf Homeschooling, Anthroposophy, and the work and indications of Rudolf Steiner;
encouraging networking among those who share an interest in exploring Steiner's indications, for personal connection and for community-based work, and;
inspiring the development of grassroots initiatives that seek to continue to manifest Steiner's work in the world in some form.

Philosophy

We work out of a deep respect and a profound sense of gratitude for the gift of Waldorf Education and for the work and indications of Rudolf Steiner. WFN was founded out of a desire to serve others who are also inspired by the wisdom of Waldorf and the work of Rudolf Steiner.

We support Waldorf Homeschooling as an authentic, living form of Waldorf Education. As we are a homeschooling family ourselves, we know the value for other homeschooling families to be empowered and supported on this path.

We believe that while there are clearly specific indications for Waldorf education, there are many entry points that can and do exist as a means of learning about it and sharing in it, as well as many forms that are possible.

We invite anyone with an interest in Waldorf - parents, families, educators, schools, homeschoolers, those considering homeschooling, childcare providers, and those involved in community-based initiatives - to browse our web site, use our services, and participate in our activities. We see this global, inclusive direction as vital to Steiner's intentions for creating genuine cultural renewal in the world.

Waldorf Family Network is our gift to all who are interested in learning more about Waldorf Education, whatever the entry point may be.
